It
was a new day and a new place had to be reached. “You do not need a therapist if you
own a motorcycle, any kind of motorcycle!”- Dan Aykroyd . It was the same for me, seeing my bike made me
forget all the body pain and mental stress. The highway can
be a freaky place, especially when you are not used to it... The more you ride,
the more comfortable you will feel.
We left early
by 7:30 IST so that we didn't need to face Bangalore traffic and could touch highway as soon as possible. All you need is a little jolt of energy; whether it’s to get you
moving in the morning or to power you through the final hours of the workday.
The word “GOA” in itself makes you go crazy.
Now it
was the time for our last destination – “The Land of Firangi Charms “Goa is currently
the Republic of India's smallest state
and famously
known as “Rome of the East”. Every year there is an event for
Royal Enfield riders -> Rider Mania (Friday-Sunday). ”The relationship of man and machine has a long and enduring history, as
technology and time speed up there’s a story where time stands still”. In
India this machine is Royal Enfield and has a 106 year old legacy.
While riding
through the highway you can hear a lot of Bulleter’s riding their souls to Goa.
During day time the Bangalore – Pune highway has its own charm. Silent, smooth
and the only song which came to my mind was “I walk a lonely road, the only one that I
have ever known. Don’t know where it goes, but its home to me and I walk alone”.
We took a pit stop
for some photographs and then moved on.
We reached Kelgeri around 1 PM IST,
surprisingly covered 431 km in just 5 hours (including a pit stop of 30 Min).
Awesome roads lead to awesome places in small time spans. From
Kelgeri to Goa it was the Ghats regions that needed to be crossed and was the
only way to reach Goa. Yet another 193 km had to be covered but this time the
roads were a mix of bad and good. Some places the roads were so pathetic that
even the biggest pothole seemed smaller than the other. The whole valley was
sounding as if it’s the valley of bikers. It’s just another type of music
having its own charm and ecstasy. It took
us 6 hours to reach Candolim Beach, Goa.
Finally gears dropped and we were ready
for the beach as usual in shorts n tees. We went to Baga Beach and had a great
evening. “Baga
Beach is a popular beach and tourist destination in North Goa. It is also famous for para sailing, water sports (banana
ride) and dolphin cruises.”

It was
the first day of Rider Mania. The event took place near the Vagator Beach ~
Hill Top. The
whole beach was howling with bullet sounds and people were moving in big
troops. We got ourselves registered. The only events that we could attend were
the bands and DJ night, rest all events were exclusively for Royal Enfield
riders.
We moved out to the nearest Beach, Anjuna, had great fun till evening.
“Anjuna Beach is
world famous for its trance parties held on the beach
during the tourist season. It also hosts the famous flea market (Every
Wednesday) wherein you can purchase many things, ranging from fruits to jewellery, clothes and electronic devices.”
It
was evening and the party was about to start at Rider Mania. It was time for
some music and fun “Vir Das Alien Chutney”. They are a comedy rock band from
Mumbai known for their combination of comedy and music in their show. It was a
mind blowing show, had never enjoyed so much. Just after that show it was time
for some hard rock music. Till 10, we were on our own exultant shout, at the top of our voices, and with hearts full of joy.
Second
day we started up for Morjim Beach. It is the best beach among all the beaches
of Goa. “Morjim Beach is a nesting and hatching habitat of the Olive
ridley sea turtle, an endangered species. The area around this beach
is known as "Little Russia" because of the concentration of Russian
immigrants living there. We spent one whole day at the beach under the umbrella. “It’s getting
dark; shouldn't we be getting back to Rider mania?” I asked realizing as the
sun was setting down.
All ready to move back as it was time for another band performance “Papon & The East India Company”. Papon has a wide variety of influences and considered to be an extremely versatile artist. He is known for his vast collection ranging from traditional Folk songs of eastern India to Ghazals to new age Electronica. The whole evening just went singing and dancing on crazy music and awesome loud bikes around.
We also enjoyed riding back to our
place. The best part of living near the beach is that you hear the ocean
playing its own tune. Ocean waves are without doubt the most popular
nature’s sound for
relaxation.
Third
Day we started our day with the same usual routine, moving to Morjim Beach.
Shantanu left the wolves pack and went out hunting for some good pictures
whereas Vivek joined us. If you want to relax, watch the clouds pass, see
happy faces; just do nothing and still have those precious moments. This is
what really rejuvenates the body. Listen to the waves rolling onto
the beach, the ocean always has a way of putting things into perspective. You
only need to stand near the ocean to feel the power of the universe and
closeness to the one who created it.
The day passed by and now was the time to say goodbye to
Rider Mania (this year). “Swarathma “- This band is an Indian folk-rock band
from Bangalore. The sound is rooted in folk traditions while drawing on rock,
blues and reggae motifs. As time moves on, bidding goodbye to such an event
feels like your soul is carried away from your body but as they say "All good things
must come to an end".
Monday
24th, it was the day to say goodbye to Goa and return back to where
it all started. 12 noon we left Goa and were on our way back to Pune. It was again
the time to roar on the highway and open up the throttle.
Everything we've ever done or will do, we’re going to do over and over and over again. We travel, some of us forever, to seek other states,
other lives, other souls. The most important reason for going from one place to
another is to see what's in between, and we took great pleasure in doing just
that.
New
rides will come along till this life keeps roaring inside me. Your journey never ends. Life has a way of
changing things in incredible ways.
“Though the road's been rocky
it sure feels good to me.” ― Bob Marley
